Description: In the 8th century the Indian monk Shantideva recited a masterpiece in verse: the Bodhisattvacaryavatara (A Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life), the clearest and simplest text ever on how to become a Bodhisattva, the one who aspires to achieve complete perfect liberation solely for the benefit of others. Since then this text has been the basis of Mahayana Buddhist practice in India, then in Tibet and now also in the West; a precise manual of how one engages in the compassionate conduct of such an individual in every moment of daily life. Its depth, its extraordinary poetic beauty and its immediately familiar nature make it an exercise capable of transforming its life into a truly penetrating and pervading spiritual practice.
