Description: Meditation called "calm abiding" (Tibetan: shinay, Sanskrit: samatha) is one of the means to obtain Buddhahood, the complete liberation from mental afflictions, or simply put to pacify the mind and improve intelligence. As ordinary beings, caught up in the complications and rhythms of daily life, it is difficult to train the mind in a stable and balanced way towards the good of ourselves and others. By practising calm abiding continuously, we learn to keep our mind and heart in positive way and in the end, having united it with wisdom, to eliminate the deleterious stages that hinder our serenity and spiritual evolution.
