Description: Buddhism teaches that the union of method and wisdom is the Path to complete self-development: the compassionate thought of freeing others from suffering and the wisdom of emptiness. The practice of just one of these aspects cannot lead us to ultimate enlightenment. In this short course, Geshe Ngawang Dhargyey, a great Tibetan Lama experienced in the practice of these teachings, will instruct us on the profound wisdom of emptiness. “The Three Gates of Liberation” will explain the three aspects of the wisdom of emptiness, through which the state of enlightenment is reached. The material is mainly drawn from the Prajnaparamita Sutras and Geshe-la will explain the texts from the point of view of different levels of understanding. The Three Gates of Liberation are the wisdoms of: 1. emptiness; 2. lack of signs; 3. lack of desires. With these wisdoms we understand that the nature of all phenomena is that they are void of existence, that is, things are not what they seem to be and appear. Furthermore, that all causes are free from signs of real existence and that all effects have no origin as inherently existing entities. Just the simple fact of listening to these teachings is the first step to actually realize emptiness, an essential method to finally free ourselves from all kinds of dissatisfaction and problems.
