It is a teaching of the Kadampa lineage to help all living beings develop the eye of transcendental wisdom. After analyzing the individuals characterized by the three types of purposes (lower, middle and higher) Atisha explains the method for arousing perfect bodhicitta and generating the mind of enlightenment. Relying on the Prasangika school of Madhyamaka philosophy, through the realization of samatha and vipassana the yogi can therefore develop the vision of sunyata.
