Description: Lama Tsongkhapa was born in a province of Eastern Tibet in 1357, as had been prophesied by Shakyamuni Buddha and Guru Padmasambhava. The auspicious signs surrounding his birth indicated that he was a truly gifted being with exceptional qualities. Raised and educated by one of the greatest Masters of Yamantaka Tantra, at the age of sixteen he moved to Central Tibet to complete his studies and where he received teachings and initiations from 45 gurus of different schools. After intensely applying to the study and contemplation of the different teachings, he entered a four-year retreat during which he was able to eat only one seed a day. Having achieved the completion of the stages of Tantra and consequent realizations he attracted thousands of disciples. At the age of sixty-three he announced that he will pass away and on the 25th day of the tenth lunar month he gave a short talk on the altruistic Mind of Enlightenment (Bodhicitta), then sat in meditation and stopped breathing. His numerous disciples saw his body taking the form of a sixteen-year-old lad.
