Abstract: This retreat trains the "concentrated calm" (Sanskrit shamatha), one of the basic practices for developing meditation and the six paramitas.
Description: The teachings and meditation instructions are based on a text of the 7th Dalai Lama, Lobsang Kelsang Gyatso, entitled: "Song of the Four Mindfulnesses: Instructions for Meditation on the View of Emptiness, Causing a Rain of Achievements (Siddhis) to Fall. The 7th Dalai Lama put these teachings into concise verses, which were given by Manjushri to Lama Tzongkhapa, to facilitate their memorization and subsequent application in meditation. These four awarenesses are fundamental aspects of the sutra and tantra practice. 1. Mindfulness of the Guru 2. Mindfulness of the Altruistic Aspiraton to Highest Enlightenment (compassione) 3. Mindfulness of Your Body as a Divine Body 4. Mindfulness in the View of Emptiness (sunyata).
