Abstract: Geshe Jampa Gyatso received the oral transmission of this famous text from HH the 14th Dalai Lama. The commentary on the root text is: "Elucidation of the Essential Meaning of the Precious Garland of the Middle Way" by Gyaltsab Je (1364-1432), one of the principal disciples of Lama Tsongkhapa.
Description: The “Precious Garland of Advice for a King” was written by the great Indian pandit Nagarjuna, who 400 years after Shakyamuni Buddha’s death brought Mahayana teachings to a new blooming. In this text Nagarjuna gives practical advice on how to integrate every aspect of Buddhism into our daily life. It is famous for its broad and clear presentation on the profound wisdom of emptiness and for its precise description of the practices of a Bodhisattva, i.e., compassion and enlightened attitude (bodhicitta). Based on the Perfection of Wisdom Sutras (Prajnaparamita) it is particularly valuable today as it displays techniques for developing social well-being and integrating the Dharma into working life.
