Description:	The meditation known as “calm abiding” (Tibetan: Shiné; Sanskrit: Shamatha) is explained in the Buddhist canon as one of the means to attain Buddhahood, and it can also simply be used as a tool to improve intelligence and to pacify the mind. In our condition as ordinary beings it’s difficult to be able to focus the mind in a stable way towards ourselves and others well-being, but by practising shinay we learn to keep it in the positive direction until eliminating the harmful states that hinder our spiritual evolution.
